What Is a Vocal Remover?

A vocal remover uses AI to separate singing and speech from the instruments in a recording. When you remove vocals from a song, you can listen to the voice on its own as an acapella, or combine the remaining instruments into an instrumental for karaoke and practice.

Audio Studio separates a song into vocals, drums, bass and other instruments. The vocal remover workspace previews the separated voice and can mix the three instrumental stems into a WAV track. Separation is an estimate: overlapping sounds, reverb and backing vocals can leave traces in either result. Listen before using the output.

How to Separate Vocals From Music

Choose a song, separate its tracks, then listen to the vocals or instrumental before downloading.

  1. 01

Step 1 – Upload Your Song

Choose an MP3 or WAV file from your device, up to 50 MiB. Selecting a file creates a local preview without uploading it. To work with a supported video instead, choose the Video music remover tab; only its extracted audio is uploaded when processing starts.

  2. 02

Step 2 – AI Separates Vocals From Instruments

Sign in and start separation on an enabled local trial server. Your audio is uploaded to private storage and sent to the AI model, which returns vocals, drums, bass and other instruments. Once submitted, the task can continue in the background.

Step 3 – Preview and Download Your Tracks

Listen to the vocals and create an instrumental by mixing drums, bass and other instruments in your browser. Instrumental mixing supports audio up to 5 minutes and exports WAV. Download the tracks you need while saved results remain available.

Who Uses It

Use separated tracks for listening, rehearsal or creative work with audio you have permission to use.

01

Karaoke

Combine the instrumental stems into a backing track and sing along without the original lead vocal. Try the instrumental first: some singing or reverb may remain, depending on the mix. The tool does not add lyrics or create a karaoke video.

02

Remix

Isolate an acapella or explore the drums, bass and other instruments to understand an arrangement. Import downloaded stems into your own audio editor for further work. Separating a recording does not grant rights to remix or distribute it.

03

Singing practice

Listen closely to a vocal performance, then rehearse with the instrumental. Compare phrasing, timing and melody at your own pace. Retain the original recording so you can judge how well the separation represents the voice.

Vocal Separation Features

Review the voice and backing track in the same workspace before choosing what to save.

MP3, WAV and Video Inputs

Choose MP3 or WAV in the vocal remover. The video tab supports H.264 in MP4 or MOV, or VP8 and VP9 in WebM, with a supported audio track. Browser codec support affects video compatibility.

Isolated Vocals

Preview speech and singing separated from the mix. Lead vocals, backing vocals and effects may overlap with instruments, so the result can contain artifacts or traces of music.

WAV Instrumental Export

Mix drums, bass and other instruments into a WAV instrumental for songs up to 5 minutes. This creates a new backing track; it does not restore an original studio master or guarantee lossless separation.

One Shared Workspace

Switch between vocal removal, video music removal and four-stem separation. Switching tools clears the current file selection, so download any local export you want to keep first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about availability, files, privacy, and results.

Is this vocal remover free, and do I need an account?

You can select a song and preview the original locally without an account. Sign in before starting separation on an enabled local trial server. Public processing prices and a free processing allowance have not been announced; production processing is not available yet.

Can I download both an acapella and an instrumental?

After a successful separation, you can preview and download the vocal stem as an acapella. For songs up to 5 minutes, combine drums, bass and other instruments in the browser and download a WAV instrumental. The four individual stems are also available.

Which audio and video formats are supported?

The vocal remover accepts MP3 and WAV files up to 50 MiB. For video, switch to the video tab and choose MP4 or MOV with H.264 video, or WebM with VP8 or VP9 video, with a supported audio track. Videos must be up to 5 minutes and 50 MiB. Codec support depends on your browser.

How long can my song be?

Audio inputs must fit the 50 MiB file limit. Browser instrumental mixing supports songs up to 5 minutes; longer audio cannot use that export feature. This is a mixing limit, not a promise that every audio file within the size limit can be processed.

Does vocal removal work perfectly on every song?

No. Results vary with the recording, arrangement and effects. Music may remain in the vocal track, singing may remain in the instrumental, and some sounds can change or disappear. Preview both outputs before using them.

Are my files private?

Selecting a file only creates a local preview. After you sign in and start processing, audio is uploaded to private Cloudflare R2 storage and sent to Replicate for separation. Saved results are available for 24 hours. In video mode, the original video stays on your device.

How long does vocal separation take?

Processing time depends on song duration, file size and the service queue. Instrumental mixing also depends on your device. Once the audio task has been submitted, it can continue in the background; keep this page open while creating a local instrumental export.

Can I use the separated tracks in a remix or karaoke project?

Only use recordings and outputs in ways you have permission to use. Vocal separation does not transfer copyright or provide a license to publish, remix or distribute a song. Check the rights for your intended use before sharing the result.
